Description : Samples of the most iconic drum machine of the 80s.

This classic 80s drum machine is responsible for too many hits and has been used by Prince, Human League, Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel and others and acquired by many modern producers over the past 10-15 years. We use this guy a lot in our own production and find the existing free samples to be of very poor quality. So we decided to make our own by recording the samples via the SSL console to tape and transferring this to virtual samplers to give you even more analog settings than the original offered.

This download gives you every single product we’ve ever developed. The majority of sounds are multi-sampled one shot WAVs, of drum machines and synthesizers, mapped to sampler instruments for Ableton, Kontakt, Logic, Reason and more. Drum products are additionally formatted for MPC500, 1000, and 2500, Maschine, and Battery, and the synths are multi-sampled at every note, and playable via midi keyboard. Each product is a single file download, and we’ve also created a 1GB download that contains only the most essential samples from every product. The Drums – One Shot Samples & Instruments

Drum machines are our specialty, and our drums are extensively multi-sampled one shots, based on the parameters on each drum machine. Where available, we sample every pitch, decay, etc (in Ableton there are Macros that select different drum machine pitches, which makes a huge difference in sounding like the original drum machine).

We capture the cleanest possible samples (we’ve spent years sampling and at this point may have more experience than anybody else in the world doing so). This starts with making sure the drum machine is serviced, plugging it into the cleanest possible power. We record through high quality conversion (Apogee Symphony MKII) and often spice things up with a mastering reel to reel, and a host of mastering level hardware saturators, EQs, and compressors we’ve collected over the years. Most of our drum products include clean and color samples.

We’ve recorded everything from classics (808, 909, etc) to the more rare, hard to find drum machines and everything in between. We’ve even recorded our own custom drum machine hits, by tracking acoustic drums with vintage broadcast mics and sampling them through our favorite hardware samplers (similar to how the early digital drum machines were made). The following are

demos composed of the one shot samples: The Synths – One Shot Synth Instruments Our synth products are multi-sampled one shots (we sample every single note), often looped, and formatted for samplers in various DAWs. Sampling a synthesizer has proven to be somewhat of a dark art. It’s something I had to teach myself over the years – downloading archaic software from brilliant (and quirky) Italian software developers who discontinued their product after being bought out by Apple. Basically, we start with a synth we are in love with – mostly this is stuff that hasn’t been sampled (for example, vintage Russian synths or the Voyetra), but we still find ourselves sampling classics because we love them.

On the keyboard itself, we spend days synthesizing the coolest and most useable patches – juicy analog bass, warm pads, cutting leads, wild FX – the list goes on, and greatly varies with each synth. Then, we multi-sample every note, often sampling additional filter and modulation settings. Usually we record synths pretty cleanly, but sometimes we’ll hit various tubes and saturators and even tape! Once these are chopped, mapped and looped to perfection (it takes forever and is its own art form), we go to town creating presets in various software samplers. Each software is different and has its own options and sound – Ableton allows us to get really deep with modulation, and FX, while Logic just sounds really good.

Sample-based synths, while not quite as flexible as virtual analog synths, have a completely different sound, and are often more realistic and just plain wild in our opinion. More than just Drums & Synths

Multi-sampling synths and drum machines is our specialty, but throughout the years we’ve done more than just this! We’ve created Found Sounds by recording rain hitting various objects, thunder, traffic, the ocean, elevators, refrigerators, drill bursts, etc – in different environments, and then re-pitched these on tape machines. We’ve also developed a massive collection of modular synth loops and drones, and created the most comprehensive collection of drum machine midi grooves in existence. And this year, we transformed a bunch of acoustic drums, Rhodes, Clavinet, bass, guitar, vocals, obscure records, dogs barking – into synthesizers and custom drum machine hits by sampling them through an old skool sampler. This is all created from acoustic drums, bass and guitar: This is all to say, there is just too much to write here about the products we’ve developed over the years. We recommend clicking the product links to the left if you want to read more about the detailed sampling processes.

Downloading and Installation Made Easier Downloading and installing a 40 + GB sample library can be daunting. Based on your feedback (thank you!), We’ve made several significant changes that should make the experience much more pleasant this time round.

• There is only 1 file per product now, with no duplicate WAV • Ableton Preset Installation is easier now • We’ve developed a new 1 GB product called Essential WAV From Mars that contains the most essential samples from every single product (more below) Essential WAV From Mars Essential WAV From Mars is a “best of” – a simplified version of our catalog that includes only the most essential samples from every one of our products. Essential WAV is a great way to start using all of our sounds instantly without having to download a bunch of products first. Anything you really like, you can download the full version for a more in depth (and formatted) version. Essential WAV is also great for hardware users, people who use audio samples on their DAW timeline, and people who generally like more minimal browsing experiences. With no daunting multi-samples or crazy folder structures, browsing is quicker and easier. About the Offer

The only reason we’re able to give away all of this hard (and costly) work for this price is because of your continued support. Somehow we’ve been able to drop the price AND reach more people – so, for as long as that happens, we’ll continue to discount this catalog every so often.

We put * everything * we make back into recording gear, new instruments to sample, and new team members, to continue giving you guys and gals even better samples every year. From last year’s sale, we upgraded our entire studio and the quality of our products increased exponentially. However! The nature of this deal is that it includes more and more stuff every year. This means it won’t last forever because eventually we will lose money from bandwidth charges. But for right now, it’s working. So Enjoy! Additional Information The WASP is a funky, dual-oscillator synthesizer designed by Chris Hugget in the late 70s, who would later go on to make the esteemed OSCar synthesizer. One of the earliest hybrid synths, it features two digital oscillators that feed an insane, multimode analog filter whose character lends itself to the buzzy arthropod it was named after. And while the WASP looks more like a prop attached to a child’s bumble bee costume than a synthesizer, under its exoskeleton lies a bizarre, subtractive synthesizer capable of generating wild overtones, insane FX, slick bass lines and sweet leads.[collapse]

Format : BATTERY, KONTAKT, EXS, MACHINE, MPC, NNXT, STRUCTURE, WAV

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description : Analog drums, huge subs and wild effects from the wicked drum synthesizer!

It looks and sounds like the most evil, analog flying saucer you’ve ever heard. The oscillators are huge and resemble much more expensive vintage synthesizers – colored and extremely distinctive, and the filter has the lowest resonance we’ve ever heard.

While its most famous uses are classic disco toms (beew, beew!), Synare is also used in reggae sirens, and remains a great secret weapon for otherworldly things: UFO sounds, space effects, white noise and analog subbass.

Recording Process : Synare may seem pretty straightforward at first, with only 5 presets and one pad. But with enough creativity, you can tame the most evil, immortal cosmic creature from the 70s. Combine your hardcore analog drums, demonic drones, soft synthesized leads and soul-sucking effects and you have the most evil and devilish psychedelia ever.

Synare is quite expressive for a variety of reasons :

• The filter is extremely characteristic, and its resonance has a devilish tone, unlike anything we’ve ever heard, especially when set to self-oscillate.

• The envelope of this filter is velocity modulated, and when combined with wild, you can get very unique tones (like the famous Tom preset)

• Oscillators are huge and extremely colorful – reminiscent of expensive vintage synthesizers such as Moogs and EMLs

• White noise is bold and in combination with the filter is pretty cocky.

• LFO, combined with FM and Velocity Modulated Filter, can go crazy.

To take full advantage of the Velocity Modulation functions during recording, we sampled the gated synthesizer signal, routed it to an Ableton sampler, and routed that signal at different velocities to the Synare trigger input.

This means that for most drum and FX sounds, you will end up with multisampled groups with varying degrees of envelope modulation, toms, frequency modulation, etc. All drums were recorded through our trusty Reddi tube, API preamp and Otari reel-to-reel. Apart from the bass drum (which does not exist in Synare and was created by us), other sounds are unprocessed.

Huge sub-bass and chromatic instruments: The oscillators in Synare are comparable to those found on the more expensive original synthesizers, both in tone and weight. If this thing had a CV input, it would be one of the most powerful analog synthesizers of all time. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen, so we had to get a little creative. We took that same sampled pulse, this time looping it to create an infinite sustain equal to the attack’s amplitude (thus creating a huge sub size). We then sent that to Synare and manually tuned (with a guitar tuner) each note on the oscillator and ran it through an extensive array of analog filters (Moog, Overstayer), Hard clipping and EQ.

Wild, space effects: In addition, we guided Synare through the original Re-201 Space Echo and into the Eventide H3000, producing insanely psychedelic (and long) drones, atonal melodies, industrial chimes, whistles, black holes, UFO (landing and takeoff), effect volumes , percussion bits, space lasers. The results were recorded on tape. They are perfect for ambient intros, endings, or for adding cosmic energies.https://www.youtube.com/embed/jr3k9QLwlx4?autoplay=0&mute=0&controls=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.freshplugin4u.com&playsinline=1&showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3&modestbranding=1&widget_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fmanage.wix.com%2F&enablejsapi=1&widgetid=3

6.Samples From Mars – SDS800 FROM MARS (WAV, MACHINE, LOGIC, BATTERY, KONTAKT, MPC, ABLETON)

Publisher : Samples From Mars

Website : samplesfrommars.com/products/simmons-drum-samples

Format : BATTERY, KONTAKT

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description : Classic Simmons Analog Toms, White Noise & Tuned Kicks

The Simmons SDS-800 is an 80’s analogue drum synthesizer, responsible for the sounds of cosmic synthesis (“beeww beeww”) used in countless discos, boogie and reggae. In the 90s, it began to re-popularize in the techno world, with a raw resonant white noise generator used for harsh hats and low power programming.

More recently, Simmons’ percussive sounds have become a signature for punk funk bands such as LCD Soundsystem. All Simmons’ different brains differ in sound, and the SDS800 is no exception, it easily holds against the larger (and much more expensive) SDSV. The voices are a little tighter and faster, the resonance on the trap is capable of a wider range of sounds, and the second Tom skin is undemanding.

Recording process

We tracked 800 mostly raw to ensure maximum subtractive sculpting in your sampler or DAW of choice, only occasionally applying compression from 1776 to some bass drums. While recording most of the views on tape, we twisted (many) knobs in all types of trap combos, resulting in many variations in resonance, envelope, and filter settings. To create the “hi hats”, we included an additional (Moog) high pass filter. For the kick drum and toms, we took a more calculated approach – bass drum tuning groups (including digital, raw) with a guitar tuner. Each filename is tagged with its corresponding note number and you can create some amazing bass lines and analog melodies.

The toms have been recorded in groups, making them ideal for working with traditional toms. The various combinations include: noise, no noise, long roll-off, short roll-off, and a second skin – which sounds like some sort of ring modulation or frequency modulation, and is very cool. Results: 480 classic Simmons drum beats – bass drum, snare, toms and (ours) haha. Access to expansive organized single hits or instant jamming with eight ready-made 16 hit kits – varied kits featuring classic toms, white noise kits, grumpy FX kits, and chromatic bass kits.

At the end

SDS800 From Mars and the Simmons in general can make this classic synthesizer, but they are capable of SO a lot more. The hits seem great on their own, but when you start layering samples with other drum hits (based on eprom or samples) they really start to shine. If you ever have a faint sample that you like, try using these analog fattening hits and focus it. White Noise Layer To add depth, energy and beat to your existing trap, use an analogue under your existing bass drum. Or just the Loss of My Edge program and see how the checks go.

8.Samples From Mars – SID From Mars (WAV, ABLETON)

Publisher : Samples From Mars

Website : samplesfrommars.com/products/sid-from-mars

Format : WAV, ABLETON

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description: Sidstation is a 3-oscillator desktop synthesizer based on the famous 8-bit SID chip. Back in those days, SID (Sound Interface Device) produced all the great music and sounds of the Commodore 64, one of the earliest mass-produced home computers and gaming systems of the 1980s. The Commodore had a desirable, raw and aggressive sound and a wide range of modulation options for its time.

Twenty years later, Sidstation has tried to continue where the C64 left off. With the original (and rather rare) 6581 R4AR chip in its core, Sidstation has all the capabilities of a modern synthesizer, including 3 multi-wavelength oscillators, an analog resonant filter, and four LFOs. But despite these additions, his heart and soul remain in the dusty and nostalgic past of the 1980s.

Like the Commodore, the SID is known to be noisy – in fact, its oscillators never stop working, even when no signal is being fed into it! This inherent instability and unpredictable nature is where all the character and sound of SID is shown. From pitch to envelope settings, each selected note has a slightly different characteristic than its neighbor, making each key pressed dynamic and unique.

The result is not just an ordinary 8-bit machine, but a full-featured synthesizer capable of generating all the C64 waveforms and additionally shaping them with LFOs and multi-mode analog filters. It gives us something much more musical than what you imagine and is possible with only 8 bit wild effects, fun bass players, drunk pads, etc.

To preserve the complex 8-bit integrity of the synthesizer, we left the signal path intact. Alternating between API 512C and NonLinearAudio Flexiguy mic pre, we’ve included light EQ and compression (courtesy of SSL and Tube-Tech), ending with a hint of saturation to achieve extra harmonics when needed. To add some stereo width and occasional (but subtle) tone delay or flicker, we used the classic H3000. Both the Sidstation and 3000 digital converters are known for their grainy, almost analog sound, and as a result, they complement each other beautifully.

It’s doubtful that Sidstation comes close to SID’s amazing sound in its native setting in a real Commodore 64, but that doesn’t mean it can’t produce surprisingly unusual, eccentric and musical tones, complete with convenient, modern synthesis.

9.Samples From – MS10 From Mars (KONTAKT, EXS, SXT, STRUCTURE, ABLETON, WAV)

Publisher : Samples From

Website : samplesfrommars.com/products/ms10-from-mars

Format : KONTAKT, EXS, SXT, STRUCTURE, ABLETON, WAV

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description : The MS10 is a single oscillator, semi-modular synthesizer developed in 1970 years. Originally created to offer basic synthesis (such as reproducing scary ghost sounds), the MS10 has become something of a cult favorite in the synthesis world due to its minimal yet vibrant modulation and filter characteristics.

Users can easily use the classic patches: round bottom, sharp highs, creamy PWM, screaming leads and percussion that the package contains. Combine several other patches and the synthesizer will easily lend itself to better sound sculpting and experimentation.

With one oscillator, one envelope, one filter, and more, the MS-10 is still the leader. Its simplicity allows for a less obstructed signal path than its MS-20 twin oscillator sibling. Sit in between, feed the same single oscillator on each and you’ll almost always prefer the MS-10. Its oscillator is somehow slightly cleaner and less phased than the 20’s.

10.Samples From Mars – SK1 From Mars (KONTAKT, EXS, NNXT, STRUCTURE, REX2, AIFF, WAV)

Publisher : Samples From Mars

Website : samplesfrommars.com/products/sk1-from-mars

Format : KONTAKT, EXS, NNXT, STRUCTURE, REX2, AIFF, WAV

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description : SK-1 – unassuming 8-bit mid-80s synthesizer and keyboard sampler. Its sound is unadorned and Lo Fi in almost every way. But what sets this almost toy-like instrument apart from all other keyboards on the market? And yet this is sound, of course! Combined with its ease of use, it’s no surprise that almost all users appreciate this synthesizer (seriously, try to find negative reviews about this guy). SK’s sound is grainy, unique and charmingly archaic.

The beauty of simplicity and cheapness: Lots of cheap and fun synthesizers, and many have nostalgic roots that justify their desirability. But the SK-1 has maintained its popularity over the years, rising above thousands of other entry-class keyboards because its sample engine is special and easy to use. Record your voice, a dog barking, or bang a fork on the glass, and instantly spread the sound across the keyboard. This inexpensive digital converter sounds like nothing else.

Recording processA: Our main problem with sampling the SC was to expand its narrow sonic boundaries, and needed to clean up the tone a little (not too much). While recording custom vocal and percussion samples through the internal mic and SM57, we also captured all of the synth’s original presets and drum loops, applying some additional processing with various hardware (Overstayer MAS, Reddi, API 550B and even spatial echo). We multi-sampled vibrato, sustain and anti-aliasing. SK definitely has an elusive lo-fi scent that creates perfect wobbly pianos, dark vocal sounds, grainy brass pipes and gliding synthetic patches. And with a touch of onboard vibrato (one of its two sweet FX!), You can have a spooky, trill-filled piano worthy to accompany the “Prince of Darkness” on Halloween

Conclusion : We sample a lot of high quality material, so why don’t we give this synth a try? Because its low-frequency transducer can give you that special grainy sound that cannot be achieved with more high-end synthesizers. Try to get those smooth pads or an 8-bit piano from Voyetra – it’s impossible. In a world filled with expensive synthesizers for all tastes, the SK1’s sounds remain musical, unique and unpretentious. It’s an unassuming little keyboard full of surprises and inspiration not found anywhere else.

Quality : 24 bit 44.1 kHz stereo

Description : Classic percussion drum machine 80s. Developed in 1985, the 727 is a Latin percussion version of the 707 and is the perfect addition to any drum machine or sample collection. Like other TR series, it has identified various genres of dance music with fast-paced nostalgic congas, agogos, bongos, timbales, cabasas, whistles, and more. You can find it all over early Detroit techno, 80s disco / garage, Chicago house, Aphex. Vibert, a Bushwick bodega.

But this is no ordinary 727 – in fact, it is simply the most comprehensive 727 package in existence, as each reel has been 30 times on a mastering tape machine. So, in addition to the normal, unprocessed sounds, you get crazy, percussion on tape.

Like the 707, the 727 is extremely punchy, and in order to preserve that punch we captured its sounds as cleanly as possible – through the API 512 preamp directly to tape. The tape adds a noticeable analog bump and crunch, so we also captured raw sounds right through our Apogee Symphony converter.
